Tips for deciding on the right price for your web design:
So you have completed your web designing course, and are just waiting to take on your first web designing job. When you start out as a freelance web designer, you have to first think how much you are going to charge for a project. You can decide on this based on the project you have.
You have to charge according to the number of web pages you will be creating for the website. Find out if the client needs images or designs on the web pages, or if you are to create them as part of the project. Similarly, find out if content is provided for the site, or if you have to write the content. Also find out if any Flash, multimedia, scripting and programming is required for the website.
With the answers you receive for these questions, you will be able to fix your rates. If the project is to be completed in a hurry, you can charge more too. However, before you accept an urgent project, ensure that you can keep up with the schedule and produce the web design on time.
Another factor for determining your price is your experience. The more experience you have, the more you can charge. Remember that just completing the website is not sufficient. Its proper maintenance is required to maintain good page rankings on the internet. So if the company expects you to maintain the website, make sure you have a separate contract for the maintenance.
Of course, before quoting your rates, it is better to find out what the going rate is by talking to other designers in your area. As a web designer, remember to never bid on projects you are not competent enough to complete. Your contract has to be as clear and specific as possible as vague contracts may lead to your providing more services than expected. Honesty will bring you a long way in web designing. If you feel you can meet deadlines, then work to it. However if you find that you may not be able to meet a deadline, give your client as much warning about this as you can.
